Automotive

Volvo P 1800 E / Porsche 911 2.2.

At first sight, these 2 cars are very different.

The Volvo can be seen as a GT, the Porsche is playing on the Sports register.

The Volvo has a modest 2 Liters 4 Cylinders engine, while the Porsche enjoys ( as well as its driver ) the fabulous 6 Cylinder  which offers much more melody than the swedish B 20.

The Porsche is still alive, while the Swedish Coupé is dead, at least in this configuration.

The evidence? When you drive a Volvo P 1800, a lot of people wonder what is this car, what is the brand.

This will not happen with the Porsche: Everybody knows this car, it is a living legend, and a part of the automotive patrimony.

But, despite these differences, there are some common points.

First of all, the visible common point is certainly about these timeless lines.

Very elegant on the Volvo, very pleasant and well known on the Porsche.

Both being very sensual, too.

Both are made for two people, as the front seats are generous, and the backseats are only made for small children....

Then, the power of these 2 cars ( 2.L Injection for the Volvo / 2. 2 Liters for the Porsche ) is very close: 120 HP for the Volvo, 125 HP for the Porsche.

The difference is that the Porsche is much lighter ( 150 Kgs ),  has much more sporty character than the Volvo, and provides more fun.

To end, an important detail: Both are very reliable, once the small current issues solved. Well serviced, these 2 cars will drive you everywhere, with a total peace of mind.

Place to the pictures:

An impressive " nose ":

These headlights are a big par of the charm of these 2 cars:

As for the " bottom ", the Volvo has a much more refined one, while the Porsche doesn't lack character:

I can't imagine the sensations and the pleasure we would have felt with a powerful 6 Cylinder under the bonnet of a Volvo P 1800.

It never had this chance, but it is a great, lovely and pleasant car as it is, by the way..

Best,

Nicolas
