weak points of the PP...for me
Strap/bracelet push pins
Coming from my experience with Panerai ( I own some ), I don't like the push-pins at the lugs. The watch weights enough to provide something that offer supports in the long therm. Ive owned some other watches with this system and at the end the push pins normally bend due to the weight and forces they get.
Also they are less friendly to be removed for a strap change. At lease for me.
Systems like the fast exchange system that Panerai (and other brands have) offer, or screws ( in several ways...like Panerai, AP, LW....) look like more robust to me, and more prepared to resist more time in good shape. And the are faster to be exchanged.
Good thing of this system...is that is easy and cheap to get a replacement push pin.
Fast exchange date
I say the same in other brands. Its crazy that they develop a "new in house movement"...and they don't make a fast change system for the date.
You finish advancing the hour hands....many and many times. Im sure its been studied, but I have the feeling that Im "hurting" the movement at some point.
What is the reason behind this?
A "simple" valjoux mov has this feature...and I can't understand why brands are not working on fitting this system, specially in brand new movements, like the 8500 in this case.
Just my 2cents!
