Girard Perregaux

What does Girard Perregaux mean to you?

It is only recently that I bought my first GP....a vintage piece. My main passion is Rolex, though I also dabble in Patek, JLC, Omega and Blancpain. My question is a simple one. What does Girard Perregaux mean to you?

I will try to explain what I mean. To me, Rolex represents a combination of reliability and action. It is, to my mind, the epitome of a tool watch. As an everyday watch, nothing beats my Rolex. Yet, sometimes, I want to wear a watch for a special occasion.....maybe a Black Tie event or a special restaurant. For such an occasion, a Submariner just doesn't seem right. More often than not, I will take a Patek. Patek represents that understated classic look. JLC, on the other hand, offers a degree of versatility that allows me to have, at one extreme a red reverso and yet at another extreme a Navy Seal. Omega and Blancpain, within my collection, are variants on my Rolex theme....tool watches but with a different DNA. Of course, my definition of the manufacture is entirely personal, reflecting my own watches and how I perceive them.

But this begs a question.....how do you perceive you GP? What does it mean to you?
