Where will you not wear an AP?
As I was trailering home yesterday from a final 2025 mountain camping trip, I contemplated how I never bring an AP on a camping trip. Which got me thinking, where else do I pass on AP?
Being honest, I don't usually travel with one. The last two times I did, I received attention I don't care for. I'm all for sharing the passion with a real watch person, but not so much with non-watch people who now know of the brand, and the value, and want to ask questions. Maybe it was just the luck to happen 2 trips in a row.
Aside from that, I'm usually not wearing an AP (or any other nice piece) when grilling, exercising, or doing yard work.
Years ago, I did figure out how to take AP camping, or I should say, leave AP for the next ones

I wear what I want, when I want, everyone else be damned. If theft risk is very high, then I won't wear very valuable stuff. I just can't be made to care!

I’m curious, was it a certain AP model you were wearing that previously got unwanted attention i.e. was it an RO or ROO?
Once each -
16202 Jumbo most recently, and before that the 43mm taupe Offshore. That one surprised me more. A steel bracelet RO is more recognizable to the masses.

And years ago, when I started wearing AP, nobody ever commented. I just prefer it that way. Thanks a lot, LeBron, Kevin Hart, TB, etc. No big deal really, and when someone is genuinely interested as a watch enthusiast, I am OK to speak with them.
