Who says winter needs to be bleak and dreary - quick jaunt to Croatia
Before Zabreg and Damjan ask, a GTG was off the table, as the trip involved in-laws, so there were more (potential) issues than those of Vogue even without detours being made 
It is also not difficult to understand why my great grandfather (naval officer in the KuK Navy) often spent time here between sailing on submarines in WW1 
Two days short of New Year's Eve and one could dine alfresco, no jackets / coats needed
Seems we were far from the only ones enjoying the pleasant weather and scenery...
The statue with the seagull had an extra seagull on it for added effect. Clear skies and seaside in winter definitely add to quality of life in my humble opinion
As does proper food. The place still seems to not have completely buried the past, as some street names show. The 109,5 as a street number someone else will need to explain, though
Chefs now seem to greet all over the world
Getting back to the issues from the opening paragraph and the age old solution to dealing with them
And food - that other great binding element of mankind
The passage of time deserves to be recorded no matter how relaxed a moment one enjoys - at least amongst us Purists
And this is simply an out of the blue shot - but could not help myself as it was simply one of the grander entrances to a restroom
So if you are interested in attending a MPG GTG at some point, it will be at least as nice as this - probably better still, as it will be carefully planned and prepared, rather than spur of the moment. But the old Austrohungarian empire and its successor countries certainly did not lack for appeal

KuK was the Austrohungarian Empire :)
And hence the Navy, something Austria has not needed since 1919... Very capable force in its day, pioneering the use of naval aviation, perfecting the fleet in being concept and excellent at naval warfare in narrow seas.
Ah such a pity...
I can't ban you anymore Opatija was always one of best cigarettes and favorite place of Austrian aristocracy. We should really start to persuade you to stop visiting Croatia without GTG Cheers amigo D

Oh, I've been to....
Dubrovnik before and it's one of only 2 summer vacations that stick to my memory for all the right reasons . I will definitely visit again, as soon as an opportunity presents itself. Cheers, Filip

admittedly it's all entirely subjective but at least the people I've known to a greater or lesser extent over the years have largely held it in their top few spots for vacationing . I certainly recommend it . Cheers, Filip

But as I said, been there with in-laws and composing a post would simply not have worked at all. Btw. are you sure there is not some research related reason to come to Vienna? A flare up in Lamarckism, or ATG auch you need to urgently address in person?

as you may have guessed. As well as camaraderie and other sausages and such. But the area was gorgeous.
I am pretty sure I can conjure up cevapcici almost anywhere.
But they are best on home turf. So, we are waiting for you. My dear friend owns a place, and we can make home made as I have another friend that owns a meat company and makes special order ones just for me.

Great place, great restaurants. The beaches suck, but for a GTG it is great.
