Why Spring Drive in Seiko's most high end models?

I always wondered this, why does Seiko put the spring drive movement in their most expensive or limited models? Case in point the Credor Eichi and minute repeaters.

Nothing wrong with the SD movement IMO but as a "hybrid", i think it does not make too much sense.
The way i see it is, watches can last hundreds of years if cared for properly.
Since SD has "electrical" components inside, i dont see this as the best choice.
