Thank you for the link on the Freak.  Indeed it is appropriately named.  And thank you for your kind words on the watches.

I am not at all verse with the inner workings of a complicated watch like the Centrigraphe and hence not in a position to wade into that discussion.  However, I do believe that the judges must have sufficient knowledge for them to make such an award or at least have the reason for it even when the watch measuring capabilities (could) have been in question. 

Like you, I acquire a piece because more of my emotional desire and I try not to be influenced whether it is an award winning or not.  Sure it would be nice to have the watch performing as it should and in this case the Centigraphe indeed shows (or displays) resolution of  1/100s.  How it goes about doing that? - beating at 360,000 or interpolating from a constant speed (or not) for 360 degree chopped up in 100 intervals is for the watch designer to decide as his design intent.  Whether which is a true (?) measuring method? - I leave the nuances of fine horology technology  to the experts.

The recent discussions on Centigraphe make interesting reading. But ultimately buy what you like and what you believe in. The name given to a watch IMO should not be taken too literally. I wonder what to expect for the UN Freak. Anyway, it is Thanksgiving...
