I remember buying my first Panerai, I wanted the watch so much but was determined not to buy a stainless steel piece because the combination of the huge 44mm case and that polished steel would just scream “look at me” I thought. Eventually I settled on titanium (in fact my first three PAMs were Ti, Ti and PVD), as it was the most subtle PAM I could buy at the time. (I realize subtle and PAM is a bit of a contradiction but you guys can understand what I was trying to achieve).

Journes tend to be a “reverse flex” to the casual watch collector In general I don’t like flashy or causing attention; even though I do have some PAMs (they are brushed Titanium) LOL.
Yes... I think it helps to wear a watch of a certain value when you go into AD and want to try some on!
It makes perfect sense... the managers don’t want to show you things if they think you can’t afford or not willing to spend $$$ on their products. It seems this way with any luxury shopping experience.

I’ve literally never gotten a random compliment (outside of dedicated watch meetups) wearing my watches from Journe, but I routinely get “nice watch” when wearing a Rolex Exp II. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

I was just looking at the Patek 5172G before I opened this app and I was thinking that I rarely, if ever, use the chronograph function, while I do use, for example, bezels on divers for timing things. Not that that is a reason not to own a superb high-end...
