Girard Perregaux

Early 1990´s

G'day,

the Laureato reference 80100 was introduced in 1994, with only few (way below 100) pieces crafted in gold.
May i ask what´s the reference code on the back? This may allow to draw some conclusions on the production time.

The stainless steel variants retailed for roughly 7.200 German Marks then (about 3.600 Euro), but over it´s lifetime it´s not been a hot seller then (and therefore not really appreciating in value until then). Thus only likewise few are made, with the solid gold ones to be quite much larger.

Which is a pity, because it´s a very fine watch and second to none of these sporty models on the market then.
It´s the only sports watch with an in-house movement then, as it was the first model by GP to introduce the then new caliber GP3100 with central second. And it´s not easy to find such a thin watch with a water resistance up to 100m (for the steel models), aside the very comfortable bracelet and nicely finished casework.
I like them and if it´s white gold indeed, you´ve got a pretty rare watch!

Cheers,

Peter
