Laureato 8010

From the archives.

This is the grandfather to all current laureatos. The first mechanical laureato made.

Made in extremely small quantities. In steel, a total of 700 made. Blue dial beteeen 50-100 pieces made. That’s it.

Released at Basel 1995 to mark the 20th anniversary of the laureato.

Designed and made by Luigi Macaluso the CEO and owner of Girard-Perregaux. It was he who invested many millions of dollars to make GP great again.

He made GP a true manufacture again. He developed the calibre 3100 and the Laureato 8010 was given the honor of being the first GP to have it beating within. Ultra slim movement. Provided to other brands that could not make their own automatic movements at the time. MB&F, Vacheron, Daniel Roth … just to name a few.

If the Laureato 8010 was not made, you would not be wearing your 38 mm copper or your 42 blue/green dial dial etc etc today.

So know your history. We don’t name our watches after carbonated drinks or super heroes. We remember our reference numbers.

Remember the Laureato 8010
