then two is super-rare!
Friends,
my first catch of 2019, the Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver 1st Generation 7254 with the very rare triangle index dial.
Reference 7254 was the first Diving watch from GP rated at an incredible 100 Fathoms (180m) without a screw-in crown.
There is a lot of charm on those early skin divers without rotating bezel. Strong 35mm case that looks larger than it is.
Screwed case back with Caliber 19 inside, the quite rare first generation Gyromatic movement with small seconds.
Finding a Deep Diver 7254 is very very hard, especially in good condition. Blomman has a few and I have the black dial.
I once already had a poor condition 7254 with triangle indexes which was in such poor condition that the only chance was to refinish the dial. It also missed the original hands and crown. The outcome was not very pleasing.
Now, this one serves a good purpose and with this new catch, that gap is now closed on my end.
Putting an all original black dial 7254 next to an all original triangle index 7254 is quite a task!
Best,
CC
