Laureato 8010 —- when GP was really innovating

 

GP Laureato 8010 champagne dial. Steel and pink solid gold on my 18 cm wrist today ☀️

Case diameter 36 mm
Thickness 7.9 mm (2 mm thinner than the 38 mm laureato). Because if the integrated bracelet, it wears larger.

Tritium dial with a diameter of 27 mm (same as the the laureato 38 mm ref 81005).

Calibre GP 3100. Same calibre used in the VC OS gen 1, Daniel Roth etc etc.

Solid gold hands and applied indices.

For anyone looking for a Laureato, the 8010 is the rare one as only a few hundred were made in total from the years 1995-2000. The Laureato 8010 is in the GP traveling museum as it was the first mechanical Laureato made.

Still largely unknown (and therefore affordable) in the knowledge level of mainstream collectors. Next year is the 50 th anniversary of the Laureato.

All things considered, this is a great reference. I'm not a fervent admirer of the Laureato but I do have a soft spot for it, and this reference is pretty nice. Thanks for sharing!

I was an AP only guy for the longest time. But take it from me, the 8010 is so cheap now that it is a no brainer. Remember that in 1995 GP was owned by the Macaluso family. These models are no pedestrian pieces. And they ridiculously rare. 🤝

This is a fantastic piece.

Just curious, from craftmanship, case build and finishing perspective, are the latest versions any better than this?

Remember that there are not vintage. They are NEO vintage. So modern CAD design and manufacturing process. I have been researching to see if the bracelets were made by Gay Feres. No GF stamp but sometimes have to dig deeper. 🤝 ...

Of the mechanical laureatos. So few were made and they will always have the iconic status of being the first mechanical laureatos made and also the model GP model to house the calibre 3100. 🤝

Great catch Marc. I have a question: are the links rounded and polished on the underside or are they flat and unfinished? Did it come with any other dial colour. Thank you.

The links at the underside are flat and satin finished. This dial color champagne or lemon is one of the most rare dial colors. While they are ALL super rare, they also coke in blue, grey, silver dial. Remember they only a few hundred made in total. I hav...

Thanks Marc. I used to own a Laureato Evo 3. Didn’t care for the bracelet so I swapped it for a strap. Unfortunately I sold it to finance another purchase. One of those watches that I regret letting go although I did not care for the Evo 3 label on the un...
