Sea hawk II: why so thick?

Hi all, I am a new comer. I am interested in buying a Sea Hawk II.
After an extensive research on the watch, I have the following
question. The caliber of Sea Hawk II is derived from GP3300, which is a
very slim one. However, Sea Hawk II is 13.5mm thick. In comparison,
Rolex Submariner with Date 16610 uses a substantially thicker movement
3135, but the thickness is only 12mm. So is there anything particular
for the construction of Sea Hawk II? Many thanks.
