Girard Perregaux

Thank you Ping!

Excellent review.   I am not sure if you know this, but it was your review of the B&R watch you acquired last year that convinced me to send in my first question to PuristsPro and the rest is history.

I cannot stress enough to the gentlemen who are buying for ladies that comfort and fit are essential to getting a gift watch (other than a special occasion watch) out of the drawer and on to the wrist.    I tried on the vertical cat's eye last year and although I didn't care for its appearance, because of the curved lugs and smaller deployant it fit perfectly .   The curved lugs on the PPro ABR make that larger and heavier watch fit even a small wrist well (the clasp that digs into the wrist is another story).

When I decide that a man's watch is going into the rotation, I will go out and order a custom made short strap with a tang buckle.   My watch merchant can't understand why I want to spend the money on my inexpensive (in his eyes) watch.   But on a conventional man's strap with the ends flopping and the buckle all the way to the side,  or slipping around on the wrist, or having lugs that protrude and catch on blouses or sweaters, it will come out of the box once or twice and then become an object of buyer's remorse.     Just like a pair of gorgeous shoes that hurt the feet and eventually end up on ebait or donated to the charity thrift shop.
