I agree with what you said about this movement.
This is a watch I would love to see in the flesh, as it may well be one of the GP I am considering to add in the collection.

Because I own this beauty! I too wasn't sure because of the bezel thickness and the base movement but frankly... the watch is just so bold and distinctive that I got over it quickly. It is a wonderfully enjoyable to wear and brings a smile to my face ever...

The use of the 7750 would not bother me at all. It has been so heavily modified : additional barrel and gear train for the foudroyante (like the Duomètre from JLC), rattrapante by column wheel, etc. that there is not much left of the base movement anyway....
