Glashütte Original

Glashütte's “The Art of the Chronograph” exhibition at South Coast Plaza

Last Thursday, I attended Glashütte Original’s “The Art of the Chronograph” exhibition event at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California.  [Sorry for the delayed report but I was down with the stomach flu and vertigo]

This interactive exhibition focuses on the launch of the new Calibre 37 Chronograph timepieces and will be at South Coast Plaza from June 10 – 22, 2015.  During the month of June, GO has several of these exhibitions planned across the globe in London, Shenyang, and Singapore.  Prior to this, GO had exhibited in Dresden, Stuttgart, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Chicago, and New York.

“The Art of the Chronograph” exhibition was held outside in front of the Tourbillon Boutique.  This was the first time Tourbillon held an exhibition right outside the store, and they even had to install a new electrical outlet outside for the exhibition’s electricity.

A lot of people attended, and it definitely was the most crowded event I’ve been to at this Tourbillon so far to date.  So I guess you can call this event a tremendous success.

3 Glashuette executives flew in for this event - Dieter Pachner, GO’s Global Vice President of Sales; Steve Cohen, GO USA President; and Carol McGuinness, GO USA PR Manager.

In the GO displays in the store, GO showcased the new Baselworld 2015 novelties which were only present for this day.  More on these new watches later.

In this below display, you can see a collection of vintage and contemporary GO timepieces.

Here you can view a disassembled Calibre 37 chronograph movement with a movable magnifying glass (partially cut off in below picture on the right).

The remaining displays contained various watches from the GO collection.

Since this exhibition focuses on the Calibre 37 chronograph, here is the 40mm stainless steel Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date with an amazing blue dial.  It houses the automatic Calibre 37-02 movement.  A great piece of those who like the vintage look IMO.

Below is the silver dial variant.  The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date also comes in a galvanized ruthenium dial and is available in metal bracelet, rubber strap, and leather strap.

Next is the GO Senator Chronograph in rose gold & platinum which house the automatic Calibre 37-01 and made their debut at last year's Baselworld.

They make a great watch for those who love a classic chronograph dial with a column wheel chronograph movement.  You get the added bonus of the Big Date at 6 o'clock and the power reserve display between 9-10 o'clock.

Notice the above rose gold version doesn't have the below platinum model's blue sapphire in the crown.

The view of the Calibre 37 is aesthetically pleasing to the eye - clean, modern, and classic.  The Geneva stripes and blued screws shimmer in the light and will keep your eyes pleased whenever you glance at the display back.

Thanks for taking the time to read my report.  I'll post pictures of the new Glashuette Baselworld 2015 watches that I managed to take pictures of in separate posts later on.

Cheers,

Anthony
