Horological Meandering

But, as you know I'm prefer new watches and let then to be converted on vintage on my wrist. I don't have a list because I take, when doable, what shows up. One recent example is the watch that I'm wearing. It was never ever on my wish list but ... I'm lo...

... don't even think of a wish list ... i think of only ONE watch i might acquire in 2013 ... but now you showed us your wishlist and every one of them looks so appealing (and unattainable) ... ... soooo, i am just as confused as you are my friend .. toug... 

... in just being able to hold and photograph some of these rare beauties. I would be content with even that. But I understand how they grab the subconscious and drive the passion. I hope your horological dreams come true, or at least some of them, in 201... 

And yes, I was lucky to be able to take pictures of most of them... We'll see how all this will lead me. I think we all have this kind of dilemma... Shall we complain? Life would not be life if we didn't have dreams to feed it. Best, my friend. And thanks...

The nightmare is: you found those watches but you have insufficient fund to buy because you need to pay so much taxes to the Government. Regards Ling

Giving ourselves a limit eg: '10 major watches' provides us a focus, to maximise the use of our money, and prevents the sometimes inevitable transformation from a hobbyist/collector to a hoarder. Although its pretty hard, and fiscally impossible for most ...

I guess when we all first started collecting, there was a natural choice....we bought the watch we wanted most. Once that watch was in the collection then when money was available and another watch was calling to be part of the collection, then the second... 

I am very happy to " count " you among my friends. I am realistic, and called myself a lost case. I feel I really am a lost case. In my prime youth, I had to collect girlfriends, it was the same phenomenon, I had to get all of them. :) :) :) I thought tha... 

.....so you have a long history of this curse too! I think I would like to bet on which way this will turn out....10 watches or viral? I know where my money is..... I think there is beauty in the fact that a collection is never complete. I really do. Just... 

if you really got them all in 2012 wouldn't you be a bit overwhelmed with giving them all their due wristtime? And having a bunch of goals for the coming year(s) sounds better to me than having nothing left, or only things that are out of the question. An... 

The question is not to get all of them in one year or even 5 years... This is just impossible, as the hunting time and the funds are not realistic. If I was only 30 years old, that is what I would hunt, because I would have 30 more years to find them all.... 

I have decided that with owning houses, boats and cars that one of each is great, two is a pain and three jis ust nuts but I cannot and will not apply these rules to watches. Watches are much easier to store and care for. Plus watches bring us all togethe... 

I had a big conversation with one of my friends, today, and we agreed to say that Passion is a lot of pleasure, but mainly a pain. We are always in the search of the Grail, we always have doubts, we learn everyday, and we have to ponder what we think to b...

You see I have this European friend who will stop at nothing to show me many fine sample that I should add to my collection. ;) This is what happen. On JLC T: I have conclude my collection with 1 reverso, 1 memo, 1 chrono, and 1 MUT. I think I'm done :) T... 

Nicolas, I understand you too well. My wish list is also getting longer (rather than shorter). My advice: don't fight it, it's like when you are caught in the sea in a very strong current - expert advice is there to let go and drift with the current, and ...
