It was not my intention to come to this site
blind, not knowing anything about the watch. I have done a little research but just havent been able to find much. I also thought I stated the manufacturer but after looking through my old posts I see I did not. It is a Vacheron Constantin made in my estimation during 1938, the serial number I gave in my first post was from the inside of the case so that is obviously not the right one. The one on the movement is 438xxx, in 1935 they started 427000 and in 1940 went to 450000 so I am guessing it was made around 1935. What I cant find is what model it is, the rarity of it things like that. Someone in an earlier response said "a watch from a beloved uncle", I had never met the man and it has no sentimental value to me at all, I just dont want to pour a few hundred into a $50 watch. I have an all original 1940s Rolex Perpetual that I had restored and it wasnt cheap to have worked on and have parts found. I was hoping someone here would be able to give me a little background on it. Ive scoured different antique watch sites with no luck on anything that looks remotely like this one, Thanks for any help guys.

Can't really tell much from the blurry picture posted. My feeling is that if you'd like to wear it as a family memento, then you should get it restored to working condition. Don't make the restoration decision based on rarity or value. Good luck. Daos
