For example, from your pics, I can't even tell the brand/manufacture written on the dial. Your better pics don't show
Quite honestly the local watch guy should have given you the information you needed because most of it will be stamped or written inside the case back. An inspection of the movement, looking at any stamping, will also give you an idea of who and when the movement was made (since movement manufactures, case manufactures, and retail branding are most likely not one and the same).
I'd take it to another more "credible" watch guy, maybe someone who is a member of NAWCC and I would make it a point to be present while he opens the back of the watch. Take better photos and look very closely.
If the manufacture of the watch is still around (and there are also internet databases freely available) you can track down the approx dates.
