Horological Meandering

I guess this is me going "vintage".. well, not so sure 1960 qualifies as true vintage, but that's so far the oldest I've gone, and I'm loving everything about it! Longines CH-30 flyback with spider lugs, how cool is it?! I've taken my time to hunt an impe...  

. . . I've said this before, and will say it again: no more chronos, with one solitary exception - a 30CH. Gorgeous movements, but even more, an aesthetic that transcends the complication. Longines chronographs succeed as watches per se ; imho, that's a q... 

i am very impressed with the design and cannot avoid thinking how would an owner feel about it back in the 60's; would they know that they were wearing such a timeless piece?

. . . the watches may be new to us, but they had a prior existence. Where did it go? What did it see? Perhaps it was present at some historical event. We don't know. And that's the beauty of it. Art

I was not so lucky with my previous purchase so I feel I have recovered some credits with this one! Been comparing with some other modern chronos I own, some with prices 5-7 times higher...and this little guy has no reason to envy them at all! It has been...

happy to enter the vintage world, there are really cool pieces out there; it requires a more profound comprehension and has less margin for error though..

There are quite a lot of treasures to rediscover, and the 30 CHs are certainly belonging to that category. Best, Nicolas
