Longer power reserve, greater resistance to shock and magnetism etc. But its bulky (relatively) case and shield logo are stopping me from buying one

Yes save the strap and put a Nato. Not necessarily the one in the box, but any other you will find in the market.
Even if from memory, the Nato for this BB is 21 mm large... Which is not a common size. Congratulations, this is a very nice catch. Enjoy, Nicolas
