The site really belongs to the community. In a democratic fashion we run the site. All ears all the time.
It is hard to ask up front for feedback out of fear of feature creep and it is hard to make changes without the risk of upsetting some users.
The main goal here was to try and highlight content that may otherwise not be seen. The idea was then to tune the content blob to allow more dynamic content not just the most recent. This could include: the last ten threads from that user, the last ten threads from the forum you are in, editors picks, and eventually contextual with the help of key wording.
For now it is on hold.

Yes we added the "Latest New Posts" section from FrontPage
into posts which have no pictures. So in these posts, the "Latest New Posts" will automatically appear at the right side. "View entire thread" view will remain the same and not have the "Latest New Posts". We will try this out for a little while, so we ap...

Figured the New York Times and The LA Times
Do similar things that help expose other parts of their editorial that it would be a plus to users. But progress has its price and we have removed this feature for now....

I suggest a 3 or 4 horizontal column at the top of the message body
instead of the vertical column at right side. Having this feature in horizontal format will remove the excess scrolling which seemed to be the main problem. - AT
