I have the original 1815 in WG and absolutely love it, wears your well! On to your question........
Other than Rolex, which I'm not a huge fan of, I have pretty much owned a modern version of all the major brands sport watches at one point or another. I would say my favorite bracelet looks wise is the Royal Oak but it wasn't the most comfortable at times as the bracelet can really rip at your arm hair and I could never get a good fit. A half link out was too tight, a half link in was too loose. The most comfortable and elegant bracelet for me was the Nautilus that I wish I still had, you barely noticed it was on your wrist. Unfortunately the prices have gotten so high in the secondary that I wouldn't buy one back unless I was lucky enough to get it at retail.
The Vacheron Overseas line to me does the best job at marrying the unique sporty look of the RO's bracelet with the comfort of the Nautilus which makes it my favorite all around sport watch. I currently own a 2nd generation Overseas date but had the Chrono for a number of years as well before I regretfully sold it. I probably preferred the look of the Chrono to the date only version but both are very nice as are the 3rd generation Overseas. Also good deals can be had on the 2nd gen Overseas relative to AP and Patek's offering assuming you like the looks and are ok with the 42mm size. Good luck with your search for a new sports watch, I hope this was helpful!...........Below are pictures of my Overseas past and present on my 6.5 inch wrist..........
