Horological Meandering

Good point Luojo!

I'm sure it makes sense to a watchmaker, but a layman must wonder why the number of jewels can vary that much in watches with almost the same features. I shall add

VC new cal. 2450: 27 jewels.
JLC 889/2: 36 jewels
Portugueser 5001: 44 jewels (with PR admittedly)

Especially one cannot help comparing two relatively new automatics, the AP 3120 and the VC 2450. Both with sweep seconds and dates, yet the AP uses nearly twice as many jewels for their movement.

I am sure every movement mentioned here have exactly the number of jewels requiered for that particular movement - it's just, sorry John, a bit hard to understand - at least with my level of ignorance! smile
