I really like this topic... I'll jump in here and take a risk..

 

I think Tim has a very practical perspective. There are some truly spectacular collections on this forum and I understand income disparity and that watches on this level are luxury toys and those who are wealthy are in a unique position to support innovation, up and coming talent and artistry and so these people help the industry we love thrive...

At the end of the day though I step back and think of Alexander the Great who died and paraded his body with his hands sticking out of his casket to show the people that despite his power and wealth, he could take it none of it with him... So I think of people with millions of dollars of watches that sit in bank vaults (because can't keep them at home for risks including insurance and to their personal safety, etc.) and they only have one left wrist, so if a collection is 30 or 40 or more pieces, many don't get worn (handful of favs, people don't visit the bank vault often ..) and ultimately, that does feel like a shame ... And I'm sure these same individuals support their communities and those in need, but yet, some have nothing and others (myself included) so much...
