DIN 8306 (European requirements) are that the lume remains visible from a distance of 25cm (a little less than a foot) in pitch darkness. Not sure how long that needs to remain the case, but I’m gonna try to find out.

That’s a good point on night dives…then these modern divers will need a light source to charge up the lume.
