Horological Meandering

My pleasure, KMII. Just a few additional gratuitous points of information, just in case you might be interested...

According to the Orient representatives that I spoke with, Orient and Seiko operate independently, though they are both part of the Seiko Group.

The 2 reps were very proud of this operational independence and of Orient's own in-house movements, and they bemoaned the fact that Orient had not received their due for having developed the AGS/Kinetic movement for which "Seiko took all the credit" until it was eventually superseded by Seiko's Spring Drive Technology. They also proudly described Orient's role --despite being the smaller entity -- in realizing the GPS technology currently used by Seiko and for which, again, they are rarely mentioned or acknowledged.

All of that piqued my interest in Orients and my desire to support them in a small way through at least a few purchases.
