If you look at almost any new movement form any of the traditional brands you will see less edges to bevel and polish, lines which are easy to prepare by machines, with only a last human touch needed.
The rest is done by computerised machines, and those don't care whether they reside in Switzerland or anywhere else.
Heck, even the rebirth of the German 3/4 plate is a cost saving measure, as it abandons a lot of surfaces to finish (individually).
Such, brands are preparing for lower prices and high labour costs at the same time.
