Postscript - Lightnium
Hi All,
I couldn’t resist adding this as a postscript to our discussion on new materials.
For the 2008 Swiss watch fairs, Franc Vila has released a limited edition Tourbillon Planétaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept watch, whose movement has been constructed from an Aluminium-Lithium based alloy called ''lightnium''. From its name you can guess that it is ... well … light.
Light but rigid materials are obviously desirable, but the name made me smile.
