That’s what comes to mind with high-end watchmaking. You may want total perfection but it is more like finding the best of the best - perhaps once in a blue moon, perfection - and teams are judged by technical and artistic merits and you get as close to all 10’s as possible. Team VC trots out a very fine team. And we have the other teams - PP, AP, et al. Everyone knows how to do the technicals from years of training. What separates the winner is a creative spark in executing the technicals. There is something lacking, the sum of the VC individual athletes do not have enough spark.

but these old stodgy maisons have been typically stubborn to embrace it. VC needs genius. It does not have it. Mr. Selmoni is a fine watchmaker and historian of VC but he is no visionary.
