Horological Meandering

Thank you!

The AQ4091-56M is another lovely one, indeed a very similar dial.
I also haven't yet had the stomach to sell off my mechanicals. My purchases are infrequent enough that each one of them is such an occasion in my memory, I am rather attached to the watches even though I rarely wear them at this point. Not to mention that none of them are so expensive that they would really be freeing up considerable cash if I did sell them. But it is definitely the case that my focus, both in terms of what I wear and what I'm interested in technically, has moved towards quartz. I think that if Huygens, Harrison, and Breguet were alive today, they'd all be far more interested in quartz than mechanicals - and more likely they'd be interested in atomic clocks at the exclusion of all else. Quartz is just as technically fascinating as the swiss lever or the co-axial escapement, in addition to simply performing better. It's honestly a surprise to me that more folks don't share the quartz enthusiasm.
On that note, it will indeed be interesting to see where Citizen goes with their high end line. They must see the commercial success of Grand Seiko and be thinking about trying to pull off something similar. I suspect that they won't make a big international push till they've added far more mechanicals to the lineup.
