Horological Meandering

Thanks, Jack

It is I who thank you and the other members of the forum for tolerating my crabby note!  I agree with you on Parmigiani -- to me the "insider" bit is part of the appeal.  My wife's Kalpa Piccola (the original version with the FP-derived automatic movement) is by far her favorite watch, and I find myself pulling out my "regular" Kalpa to wear a lot more than I would have predicted.

The styling is not for everyone, it seems.  Enthusiasts uniformly compliment me on the quality of the finish work and construction of my Kalpa when they see it, but some make a face at the styling.  No less an authority than Peter Speake-Marin told me that he admires Parmigiani among the "big" watch houses as a result of the deep involvement of passionate people in the manufacturing process there -- but he also, in his own extremely polite way, suggested that the physical appearance of the pieces isn't to everyone's taste.  Happily, I love 'em!  And the Kalpagraph, to me, is more of a good thing.

In any case (no pun intended), I resolve to work with Bill to increase my skills in posting, and thank you for the kind remarks and forebearance.

Best,

Gary G
