Horological Meandering

Hi All I know there have been very many discussions on this forum and on others on the site about deciding what to collect and themes and concentrating on a particular area. Unfortunately, I've never managed that discipline - far too much of a magpie natu...  

...I've been looking for one of those for some time. I've had to content myself with a Cricket and (like you) a Bellmatic, both of which possess a unique sound...but not as nice as the JLC... Great post on a great topic.

Hi Thanks, I think the Lanco is great but it has proved to be one of my more delicate watches. Then again it is the oldest one of the lot. I think a Cricket is on my list - but its down to finding one I like. Cheers JML

Breguet, Blancpain, GP, JLC, U.N, Omega, and many others released some very appealing alarm watches... If you only focus on the JLCs, you'd be lost, very quickly. But what a charming thema, for a collection. The complication is very friendly, useful, and ...

I thought about it for a moment, but if you only take ONE Reference, the E 855, there are so many variations ( Dial / Metal of the case ) that it could be difficult to get them all. Now, there are so many references, and variations inside these references...

Such a nice and special Memovox. JLC did not do this for the new Memovox, did they. And I think that is a shame. Perhaps there will be a Boutique edition with a see through caseback... Thanks for the additional photo, respo

Beautiful alarm watches! We have one here that is usually left out in the world of alarm watches--the IWC GST alarm in Ti. Heard that the buzzing sound is somewhat different from the old Memovox by JLC, which shared the same movement as this one. Just had...  

Lovely collection. I have a weakness for alarm watches as well, but have none as nice as your Memovox. Some of the old ones are very fragile, so they tend to stay in the watchbox. My first alarm watch was the Vulcain cricket, which has proved very durable...

Wow Wonderful collection, thanks for sharing. You have some that I've been looking at as well. the Sheffield - Baumgarter 90 - is that the one where you turn the bezel to set the alarm? The Vulcain looks fab, while the Juvenia in my eyes is the most elega...

i like the lanco as well. its the 1 crown system that appeals to me. the problem with them is that there are too many with the incorrect 'bells' inside. most from India. i gave Ginger an indepth method of id'ing the correct ones. basically if you dont see...  

Hi Thanks - Like the Revue Thomen as well, but I get a bit confused between them and vulcain crickets as they both use the Cricket name. Really like the look of yours - have looked at them in the past. I know where there are a couple of Revue Thomen Crick... 

Please tell us more about it and share some pics... How big is it? May be the closer cousin of the Polaris, with the Vulcain Nautical Vintage! Best, Nicolas...  

thanks Nico, thanks JML. i did a post on this last year when i bought it with several pics. its 38mm, 200m WR, uses a schild movement. it has the traditional 2 piece cricket caseback. the very back cover has holes in to let the sound out. its not an old w...

recently, although i have started another line vintage collection for JLC Memovox after my Omega Seamaster 600, however my first first alarm watch can dated back to my earlier days of vintage watch collection. that alarm with funky look made in USSR was P...

Nico, I got this funky alarm watch at the very beginning when started the watch collection. i also find it pretty and uncommon funky, i decided to keep it although it seems quite different than other alarm watches i have. the nice thing of this USSR alarm... 

Congrats to your great Alarm collection! Don’t know how I could miss this post! Maybe because I don’t spend enough time in the HOME forum… Love the alarm complication; I have been playing with the thought of building a theme around the alarm complication ...
