I think it would be nicer to remain independent rather than having to fit into a group philosophy.  Quite understand financially though if they feel the need to shore up the business.  I know Breitling doesn’t get a lot of mentions on here maybe because a lot of what they do is a bit ‘bling’ in places, but I still like a few of the models, and the older stuff from the 70’s to me is way more interesting than the Heuer equivalents; but I like to be different!
