I, for one, am a big Breitling fan, and I agree with your assessment of Breitling's new direction. That Bentley Premier in green is gorgeous! I recently went with the other Bentley Premier... ;-) ...  

...in this case it is pretty discreet and not really disturbing to me. I have learned to accept reasonable date indications as otherwise many nice and interesting watches could not be part of my collection.

pre Richemont IWC's. Once the current leadership took over, it was all about celebrity sponsorship and homogenisation of design aimed for mass appeal. Same is happening with Breitling. No thanks.
