Are we not following geopolitics?
On another note…
Collecting anything, watches, cars, stamps, homes, was always a privilege of the rich.
Breguet, Michelangelo, and all other artists created for the rich, commissioned by the rich…
Where I’m getting here is that only in this last century, we were able to acquire things(watches), on a mostly mid level incomes.
Our parents, had one watch(if any), one car, one home…so now we are just rapidly returning to the original concept of luxury.
Nothing more, nothing less!
As for the Submariner, compared to the 16610, it has a new case, new movement, new bracelet, new bezel, more advanced reliability and accuracy, so essentially it’s an entirely new product that maintained the previous design lineage.
Is the price justified?
If one can afford it, yes, if not, no!
Compared to the prices other brands are charging this days, where a two hand watch or an independent who has one model that may, or may not work, charges nearly six figures, the Sub is a bargain!
BTW, after seeing the prices at the W&W, I also joined the group of “out priced” people, at least at retail!!!
