Watchmakers since Breguet have been using master slave systems to assure greater precision. Urwerks AMC system is the latest in this line. With a base station including an atomic clock and GPS for initial time setting the mechanical wrist watch is placed in the unit and automatically (automagically) set and the rate corrected as needed.
As is usual for Urwerk they have gone all out to produce an overwhelming mechanical masterpiece, even if the internals of the base station are eletronic. The wrist watch seems so small and simple in comparison, even if it is certainly the bigger challenge to make.
