Thank you for sharing these excellent photographs. For this type of watch, I find I am appreciative of the thick aspect ratio, together with the domed sapphire. A sense of robustness is bred into the design.
The way it sits on your wrist looks a bit odd, given the modest diameter. Perhaps the owner could adjust the lug shape angle and curvature to match their wrist?
I “discovered” Theo Auffret’s work through Instagram a few months back. In fact, I’ve been very surprised at the number of independent watchmakers I’ve discovered on this platform. The workshop and watchmaking-focused independent Instagram accounts are the refreshing flip side to the more numerous “look at my bling” pages.
I remember reading up on Jean-Baptiste Viot in 2012. Is he still producing his series watch, the Chronomètre? It’s of those watches I’d love to see in the metal, but probably never will. Regardless, I hope to hear and learn more of French independent watchmaking. I’m liking the style and the standard of execution is quite high.
