The rise of independents is a sign of a healthy industry, which is great, but it feels like the independents are leaving a huge gap in the market in the "attainable luxury" category, while saturating the ultra high end, which is a strategy that automatically alienates the vast majority of watch enthusiasts. Why not make a JLC and IWC competitor instead of the 500th iteration of the same boutique brand concept? The watchmakers want to prove themselves and make something great, I get it, but is it a sustainable business strategy?
