The 41mm of the other models is just too large for a lot of us.

I wish though he did some more work on the Vaucher movement like he did for the unitas movement but I still like it, espeically the size! Fantastic work, am a big fan of laine and can't wait to his future works!

But the price would be considerably higher. I'm also just not sure if he has the time to develop a finishing scheme for it and execute it with all the other orders he has.

I mean, it is just like one guy and everyone wants his watches!!! He probably has a waiting list!

Just paid my deposit and hope to receive the watch within three months according to Torsti Laine who has been great at replying my many emails today.

For me this is a great value brand producing simple wearable watches with magnificent dials and proven movements.

And even though they use very basic movements, they change the movement so much it is unrecognizable!!

he is not allowed to change the movement as per his sales contract with Vaucher but he has decorated the mini rotor. ...  

Very interesting, never knew that Vaucher made that sought of arrangement with the companies it supplies too! in that case, I would prob go with the bigger case model anyway cuz of the movement finishing!

If your wrist is comfortable with the larger case, you should definitely go for it as it is also manual winding instead of an automatic.

It is a lot of band for buck!! can't wait to add it to my collection ;p for now it will just be in my dream collection in my mind!

As an owner of a Vaucher equipped Parmigiani Tonda 1950 (Vaucher's sister company), I can attest to the quality and stability of this excellent, stable, and thin micro-rotor movement.

Love the hands on the V38, and the size. If only the movement had some personalized touches, apart from the micro rotor... No doubt the Vaucher 5401/32 is a very nice looking movement (with four internal angles no less), but it is still effectively a stoc... 

has instructed Laine that it cannot modify or decorate the movement. It is a reliable movement though and one thing I have learned about this passion of ours is that it is the dial that will always matter more than the movement as we seldom actually look ... 

Thanks for the information, sham1. And agreed on the dial - or perhaps it is the package taken as a whole, ultimately. I'm considering getting one of the new models, and the Vaucher movement by no means is a factor that would put me off. It is a solid pra... 

so I asked Torsti Laine when ordering mine two days ago and he explained why he could not do anything to the movement. I feel it is one of the best value watches around currently taking into account the beauty of the dial and the reliable proven movement....

I discovered this brand when it was introduced to me two years ago but the 40.5mm case wore too large on my wrist. Now at 38mm, it should be a lot better.

Just wanted to clarify. Do you mean Vaucher can not modify/decorate the movement for Laine or did they forbid Laine from doing it himself (to keep the movement recognizable as Vaucher)?

Kikuchi Nakagawa is using the same movement in the Murakumo (which I have ordered too!)and he may have improved on the movement although the difference between the V38 and the Murakumo is that the latter's movement is not visible due to the closed case ba...  

The movement in the Murakumo seems to be 5401/H,M ( ) While the V38 uses 5401/32 ( ) Different decoration between the movement versions (as well as different lighting in the two pictures!) but the 5401/32 is actually the slightly more upscale one, with ...

The finishing on the standard movement may not be up to high standards, but excellent for the price. The finish on the Vaucher seems high end, though. I would appreciate your take on the Vaucher's finishing, please.

Maybe I am easily pleased but the finishing on the Vaucher movements is very good for a watch at this price range.

I just want others to not confuse laser engraving for free and engraving as they are COMPLETELY different in nature and skill 😉👍

I just figured Laine wanted to keep the price reasonable. Very interesting stuff.

I've been in touch with Torsti on and off thru the past year, and it's great to see the new 38mm case come to fruition! I'm planning to get the V38, likely with the salmon dial, but wondering if the blued hands option would work better, legibility-wise? ...  

Hopefully there will be more pictures of different variations, so we can see if the blue works better.

I've finally (after weeks of flipflopping between the salmon dial and the white dial) decided o pick the V38 with salmon dial and centre guilloche, and blued hands. Very excited! Now for the long wait...

Anyone one if he will do customization?

The Vaucher 5401 has nice tactile interaction and surprising finissage for the price. With Torsti's customization options, it seems to me like a lot of value for dollar.
