Originally the One Hertz was going to have normal deadbeat seconds
driven from the mainspring barrel, but the Grönfelds decided that independent deadbeat seconds - with a seperate power source and gear train - would provide better performance. First deliveries are anticipated for December 2010/January 2011.
looking forward in seeing the final watch. One question though
in the interview you mention that it is the world's first independent dead seconds, what does the "independent" mean? Others for example Journe and Habring also have dead seconds watches so what differentiates the Grönefeld's to theirs?
Alex, i guess the fact the in your examples the dead-seconds mechanism...
is part of the clockwork, whereas with the Grönefeld's is powered by a secondary gear train that is independent of the gear train for the hour and minute indication! Best, Magnus

the deadbeat seconds has its own (independent) barrel as well.
