My Uncle, now retired, was an architect
and was a member of Peter Ahrends' team that in 1984 designed the towering extension to the National Gallery. Prince Chales made the project infamous overnight when he memorably called it a "monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much-loved and elegant friend".
This is my first view of the EMC Pistol, but that quote immediately came to mind.
