I think that you have captured much of the thinking of many of us who have been waiting for years now. Volker's dedication to "doing it himself" is admirable, but not when it means that he does not seek advice from other leading watchmakers on how to resolve challenges.
The recent documentary film that showed Romain Gauthier coming for advice from Philippe Dufour is one example that shows that this is commonly done. I know that even Kari seeks input from time to time on sticky technical problems -- and why not? The independents, while technically competing with each other, need to have the confidence that collectors will find what suits them. The idea that helping another independent will hurt someone of AHCI status seems absurd.
Great idea to get Volker to consult with others -- at Basel or elsewhere. I agree with you that my impression was that several cases were ready for use years ago, so I am not clear why they are not being used.
Thanks again for your post -- perhaps we can move Volker to get this project finished!
