... the miniature painting art's decline is apparent, when you compare these watches with those in the possession of the various watch museums. Two hundred years ago, miniature painting was a very common art, since it was the only way to take the pictures of the family, or other dear scenes with during a travel. Since most painters regularly used to paint miniatures, it is clear that the rich people could afford the very best of them. Today, only a few people still exercise this art, and you have to accept what they are delivering. Especially, when considering the fact that human labour, even that of renown artists, was a lot cheaper 200 years ago:
