Funnily, the Ocean 2000 was not a diving watch according to industry standard ....
... lacking not one, but several important requirements of the DIN standard:
- no luminous element on the sweep second hand, which should permit a quick function control in darkness,
- no minute markers on the rotating bezel, and
- no clear designation of the depth rating on the dial
That the Ocean 2000 can undoubtedly considered as one of the best diving watches ever made, clearly proves that industry standards are no fundamental laws.
There is another comment I would like to add:
Mr. Kern leaves the impression that IWC liberated itself from the overwhelming partner Porsche Design. However, it was Porsche Design that ended the cooperation and purchased Eterna.
