Yet I think a tourbillon displayed in a dial cutout should be subjected to some care in its optical design: just think of those beautiful tourbillon cages made by Breguet, Vacheron, AP or Claret. This one in the IWC appears to be a bit sloppily designed. This does by no means describe the mechanism's quality, but I think that tourbillon cages can either be technically reduced to the minimum, then they are "pure" and functional, like those made by Habring. Or you decide to spend some extra mass on a pleasing design of the cage. And the IWC regulateur appears to my eyes as if its makers simplay stopped after stage 1 "build a tourbillon", before stage 2 "design a tourbillon".
