Dress Options in the 38-40 mm range and more sports options in the 40-42 mm range would be most welcome!
They need calibres to support these sizes. Currently, the 5000 auto series is 38.2 mm (large), the 8000 auto series is only 30 mm but is quite thick at 7.3 mm, the 89000 chronograph series is 30 mm as previously discussed and the manual wind 98000 series is a pocket watch calibre and is 37.8 mm.
IWC needs a smaller set of calibres. right now, they use an ETA 2892/A2 for their smaller autos. The 8000 is in some 42-44 mm offerings but they become fairly thick (e.g. >14 mm). I would like to see IWC develop a smaller auto and manual wind calibres (why not bring back a modern Calibre 89?). I feel that some smaller calibre 89 manuals would be quit popular among watch collectors.

I had been so disenchanted with IWC recently because of the large size of their watches, that it slipped by me. They are using the 89000 series of chronograph calibres in Chronographs in the Aquatimer, Ingenieur, Pilot and Portuguese lines now in select r...
