Top looking dial, which has the good taste to not display a date, which contributes to the purity of the watch, and which doesn't ruin the spirit of the original.

Why Platinum?
I never understood the reasoning behind precious metals used on tool watches. Furthermore, I personally prefer the plain look of the plain MK12. Photo borrowed from the interweb: ...

Nice, but I find the use of platinum a bit of "overkill" here, if there
is such a thing. To me this is a so called "tool watch" and should be only stainless steel. Just an opinion but I think platinum should be reserved for more of a "dress watch" As mentioned, just an opinion.

I had the opportunity to try this exact piece.
This piece was being auctioned by Antiquorum in Hong Kong on the 21st of April, 2018; lot 164. It is a subset of 80 pieces from a total of 500 pieces and was made for the Asian market. Its beauty has haunted me every since and, in my opinion, is one of IW...

80 of them were this version destined for the Asian market.

From Steve G's website Art mentioned above: "Produced for the Asian market in 1998, the edition is 80 pieces numbered 301-399 (excluding all numbers which would include a "4")."

So I went looking for more info. Apparently, this exact model you posted was intended for the Asian market and this other version with the blue dial was for the rest of the world (I think). Still digging... ...
