Thankfully, we all have choices. But, in an age where day/dates are displayed in car instrument clusters, smartphones, tablets, notebooks, PC's and even speaking apparatus (Alexa, etc.), it makes a date on a mechanical watch's dial rather redundant. Add to that the fact that more than a majority of watch manufacturers insist on placing the date window in idiotic places (i.e. 4:30 and crooked) and most don't even bother to match the background color with the dial's, makes the date window rather unattractive to many purists.

In an even worse position (away from 3 o'clock) on the black model? That's because the SS is 39 vs. 41 for the black.

That date windows are no longer relevant and stop this silly practice but they continue to ignore us...😔

I think I've read or heard from someone that you can only order these if you belong to a/this certain squadron. Not everyone chooses to order one either. So I doubt an outsider could get one.
