This is a question I wanted to submit to your sagacity, a question I kept in my tortured mind for a long time. When we observe the current JLC collection, and especially the " affordable " category, we see that JLC offers a large offer of manual movements... 

One is the jumping hour and minute watch like this IWC pocket watch. And another is an extremely long power reserve and extremely accurate watch like the Lange 31 but not necessarily that long. The JLC Master Fortnight, perhaps? Ruckdee...  

JLC already has a superb manual movement in the Duometre... I fear that your 2 suggestions will be way above the budget. But, yes, there is something to work on, with these 2 ideas. Best, Nicolas.

We already have that with the RDM... Which is an historical watch, but always was automatic. Adapting it on a manual movement? Would this be interesting? Wouldn't it be an heresy? Best, Nicolas.

I would love to se a JLC alternative to the A. L&S Richard Lange or the iconic IWC Portuguese Jubilee from 1993. -round, 40 mm, thin bezel -manual winding -center or a generous small seconds hand -simplistic dial -huge balance, breguet overcoil -high prec... 

Ok, the Geophysic could fill the bill, in this category. A superb movement, nicely decorated AND finished. A sublime dial. A nice case, simple, yet elegant. Then, it would be a good start for some later developments, as to balance the offer between the Au... 

That would be a 38 to 40 mm case, at least 10 mm thick, small (and I mean very small bezel), simple dial with small seconds hand at 6, silver or better enamel dial with applied numerals or printed romans 1 to 12, no date, slim hands (leaf-style?) and a hi... 

... from JLC. I mean as you said, in the 5-15 K€ range, the "rounds" are only automatic. I guess that in this area the "automatic" function is something considered as a +, particularly when you compare to other brands (like Omega or IWC for example). I le... 

If the movement is nicely finished, well, yo say it in a trivial way " if there is something to see ", yes, it is, IMO, justified to get a manual movement in this range of price ( 6/ 12 K euros is some serious money, by the way ). In this case, I woilmdn'... 

a base movement with a slightly-longer power reserve (maybe about 72 hours) that could drive some small complications. JLC has done good things with their automatic base calibers and the master-8-day movement, but that is one big movement to add complicat...

Like you, I'm totally crazy about the Memovoxes in general, and speically when it comes to this example. BUT.... Can't we do / wish better? What would you think of a Duometre à Alarme? With an Alarm ringing like the U.N Sonata, which means like a Minute R... 

Not an expert in Duometre ( improving soon, maybe..), - but quite a fascinating concept .. All the precision, but also a new family member to the famous "2 D's" : - and a 'relative' to Memovox AND ( almost ) a Repeater, did I get that correctly ? - Intrui... 

But it may be around 30 K Euros, depending of the level of sophistication and of the color of gold used for the case... But we're speaking about an " Ultimate " Alarm watch, here. Best, Nicolas.

I would love to see a new manual Time Only Chronometer with central seconds. We'll leave it JLC to deliver a classic design that oozes elegance - 39.5 mm x 9 mm please and offered in steel, RG and WG or PT with a black face. Okay, now I'm just being overl...

Blomman's idea for the Memovox is a good one because the alarm is one of JLC's most defining complications. But I guess I would like to see something along the lines of the Master Ultra Thin 38, but perhaps with a new movement more aligned with the size o... 

witha display caseback for me please. Or just a simple 3 hand watch (blue steeled hour, minute and second hand) with long power reserve. With the power reserve displayed at the back.

The problem is that JLC already has a superb manual Chronograph in the collection: The Duometre. But why not, if they release a ... Rattrapante??? Your second soultion would be wiser, but not less appealing, in my opinion. Thanks for your input! Best, Nic... 

but it wouldnt fit the 7-12k euro price range. so i would have to settle for next best....but in hindsight, i think i agree with you to go with my second choice. I totally forgot about the AMOVX2 chrono...so no need for a master chrono, i am equally happy... 

It would generate a serious " traffic jam "... Unless we have what still misses in the family of the JLC Chronos: a Rattrapante. Let's go for the 2d solution. Best, Nicolas.

wasn't released as a manual. That being said, a 40mm thin-bezel, with a manual with date, power reserve and moonphase is what I dream of from JLC. It may or may not have a seconds hand, but how 'bout taking ONE of the springs from the 87X series and makin... 

What about a Triple Date moonphase, animated by a delicious manual movement? I fear that on such a watch, the power reserve indicator is ruining a bit the pure symmetry of the dial. That may indeed be a solution... As for the SIHH novelties, I will post o... 

especially after I sold my Master Moon. If the Master Calendar's bezel was thinned, and the profile reduced by half, I think we'd have an absolute winner! -Dean

As for the Geophysic, I'd say 37 / 39 would be the ideal size, if we want to keep its characteristic appeal. 40 mm, with the important aperture of the dial, will make it look like a IWC Portuguese... Best, Nicolas.

Mr. Bloman is on the right track with an updated Master Memovox. Perhaps the larger, more refined case form, but otherwise, don't change a thing. As well, I think a "Calatrava" style center seconds, no date model with a little more heft than the ultra thi... 

As for a Geophysic, I think it would be a great start to inaugurate a new family of manual winiding movements, YES! Best, Ken. Nicolas.

In fact it was a "wish" I'd posted in another website's JLC forum that we're all familiar with a while back. My want: A manual wind Master 8-Days with - 37mm - 39mm diameter, reasonably substantial casework [not to heavy, not too dainty] - Dauphine hands ... 

There was a Master 8 Days in SS with a black dial, in a not too distant past. The case was 41, 5 mm big, and the P.R indicator was on the dial. So you weren't too far from your ideal. Best, Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2011-04-07 10...

because it might become too cumbersome to implement it on pieces that have complications that will benefit from having a winder. I'm almost of the opinion that a chronograph (ala moonwatch) would be the most "sensible" if you want to go complicated... and...
